Training environment for the combined use of Cisco, NetApp and VMware solutions

Fast Lane launches new Multi Vendor Data Centre Lab

Hamburg/Berlin, 11 August 2010 – For training in the use of combined technologies, the IT training provider Fast Lane (www.flane.de) has just set up a multi-vendor data centre lab. In this lab, up to 16 participants can be ideally trained for the practical application of solutions from the manufacturers Cisco, NetApp and VMware. The new infrastructure provides support for the training sequences from various data centre courses such as VDDC and "Implementing Enhanced Secure Multi-tenancy Solutions(IESMT)". This high-end lab can also be used for official Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) training courses.

Within the multi-vendor data centre lab, a UCS 5100 blade server chassis, eight UCS B-series blade servers and two UCS 6100 series fabric interconnects are available. Furthermore, the lab has been equipped with two UCS 2100 fabric extenders and two MDS 9124 multilayer fabric switches. In order to provide practical support for NetApp courses, the training environment has a storage system as well as eight NetApp FAS 2040s with four clusters at its disposal. This state-of-the-art equipment will be used, for example, for the following training courses developed by Fast Lane:

VDDC

In a single day training course, participants receive an insight into current and future data centre technologies. The particular focus is on the combined use of solutions from Cisco, NetApp and VMware. The course highlights different approaches and consolidation strategies as well as their effective classification. Amongst others, the Fast Lane experts deal with NetApp Unified Storage, Cisco Unified Computing and cloud infrastructures. In addition, the customer requirements relating to virtual, dynamic data centre solutions are addressed. An overview of current market trends completes the comprehensive training session.

Implementing Enhanced Secure Multi-tenancy Solutions(IESMT)

This five-day course provides detailed knowledge concerning the integration of NetApp Multi Store, Cisco Unified Computing Systems (UCS), Cisco Nexus 1000V switches and VMware vSphere. Participants learn how to create a secure multi-tenant computing environment. The storage base used is NetApp Multi Store, while Cisco UCS forms the hardware platform for VMware vSphere and Cisco Nexus 1000V serves as a virtual smart switch.
